tangy onion brisket for slow cooker

Tangy Onion Brisket (makes 6-8 servings)

  • 1 1/2 lb. brisket (if frozen, no need to thaw)
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, sliced or minced
  • 8 oz. tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp. soy sauce
  • 1/4 c. apricot jam
  • 1/2 c. apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. powdered garlic
  • 1 tbsp. powdered onion
  • 1 tsp. powdered mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 2 c. beef broth

  1. Place brisket in the slow cooker, and spread onions and garlic over the top.  Mix remaining ingredients in a mixing bowl and then pour over brisket.  Cook on High for 4 hours, then see if you can shred the brisket, or at least separate into smaller chunks.  Cook on Low for 2-4 hours more.
